On the VW USA web configuration right now the Golf R has DOZENS of color choices.
I’m aware that VW has offered many color options for their German built European market cars for a long time. But to my knowledge they’ve never made that available in to the US market.
And yet here they are in all they’re glory, many many color options. if this is real than my desire to own a Golf R just tripled.
I just noticed the “subject to additional delivery time, (+2,500). is 2500 buck worth it to have a factory fresh unique color? I think so. i;m guessing this is available because Golf Rs are built in Germany anyway, but I could be wrong about that.
Digging deeper there are 5 colors that don’t get the up-charge .
Deep Black Pearl, Tornado Red, Oxford White, Lapiz Blue, and Indium Grey.

I think I’d go for Violet Touch Pearl. or 91 Blue, which I think is actually 90s teal.

Yeah, I mean dealers have to have something to show, and some people will want that Oxford white one sitting on the tile floor.

Yeah I noticed a while back that the Canadian site also has a large colour palette. At least the VW.ca site organizes it by the base colour (e.g. blues, greens, purples, reds) like this:
I’d love to get a Golf R but the base price up here is $43k and I definitely want to add a $3k paint job on top of that.

Legit on my side

Indeed. Every car should be like this. I bet more people would be motivated to by new if they could pick one of 45 colors rather than one of 4 or 5, 2 of which are grey.

yeah I thought the base price was closer to 35k. the USA MSRP is 40,395.

Absolutely worth it. I sure hope to see a lot of these on the road in the near future.

That’s a crazy MSRP considering our base price is equivalent 32k USD.

In Australia we only have the 5 colors
. That is all.

Are they offered in more basic packages there? For the US market he only options are paint, and transmission. Everything else is standard

There is an Assistance package at 1565 Canadian pesos and a 600 ruble pack for black wheels and carbon fibre mirror caps.
Really, I’d want the DSG with one of those blue paintjobs or one of the seven (!) green paints. I think I’d enjoy Racing Green.

I think 91 blue is my favorite
